Burbank Home Energy Rebates 2026

Burbank runs its own city utility, Burbank Water and Power (BWP), so Burbank rebates come from BWP and not from Southern California Edison. BWP has two tiers: standard rebates, and much larger ones for customers in its BUSS and Lifeline programs. We read BWP's pages on October 2, 2026.

Quick quiz: home energy in Los Angeles

Questions about Los Angeles, from the data behind this page. Tap an answer to see why.

1. Which utility's programs apply to our Los Angeles rebate guide?

LADWP is the utility we use for Los Angeles. Rebates often depend on who supplies your power or gas, so check yours first.

2. What is a typical January night low in Los Angeles?

Our weather sample for Los Angeles (2015-2024) shows an average January low of 46 °F. Cold-climate heat pumps are tested at low temperatures, so check the rating at your coldest days, not just the average.

3. About how many peak sun hours a day does Los Angeles get on average?

Our 2020-2024 sunshine sample for Los Angeles averages about 5.3 peak sun hours a day. Fewer hours means less solar power per panel, so the size of the system matters.

4. Across the heat pump programs we list for Los Angeles, the top 'up to' amount is:

Our summary for Los Angeles: Up to $2,500/ton (LADWP Consumer Rebate Program). The amount you get depends on your home, income and utility, so use the calculator.

Two tiers: standard and income-qualified

BWP pays standard amounts to every customer and bigger ones to customers enrolled in the Burbank Utility Service Subsidy (BUSS) or Lifeline, and to certain affordable housing providers. A low-income customer can get up to $5,000 for a heat pump, $2,000 for an induction cooktop and $600 for a heat pump dryer. Enroll before you apply, and have the approval be within the past 18 months. If you qualify, check the assistance programs first, since they change the math more than any single product.

Rules that apply to the electrification rebates

New construction is excluded and at least one new item must replace a gas-powered equivalent. A licensed electrician does the work, obtains the permits, caps the gas line and passes an inspection from Burbank's Building and Safety Division. BWP also asks for before and after photos with nameplates, itemized invoices, proof of payment, a W-9 and the finaled permits. Applications go to BWPConservation@burbankca.gov, by mail, or in person at 164 W. Magnolia Boulevard.

How BWP compares nearby

Glendale pays $1,000 per ton up to $5,000 and $4,000 for a gas water heater swap (Glendale). Pasadena pays $170 per ton and $500 for a water heater (Pasadena). LADWP pays up to $2,500 per ton and up to $2,500 for a water heater (Los Angeles). BWP's standard amounts sit in the middle, and its low-income amounts are the largest of the four. Check your electric bill, because the utility named on it decides what you can claim.

What we did not find

BWP's pages list no solar or battery rebate and no windows rebate. We also found no electric range rebate, despite a $500 figure in some older notes, which we removed. BWP does not publish per-square-foot insulation amounts or per-model thermostat amounts on its pages, so we do not quote them. If you find a current BWP program we missed, tell us at hello@homepowerrebate.com.

Money that ended or is full

The federal 25C and 25D tax credits ended for spending after December 31, 2025. Statewide heat pump help from TECH Clean California and the federal HEEHRA program is fully reserved and takes new requests on hold only. BWP points customers to the Switch Is On California site for other incentives.
