What GWP pays in 2026
Each card links to a page with the rules, the permits and the local detail. GWP says funds are first come, first served, and that the increased amounts, effective November 1, 2025, are for a limited time.
Heat pump
Up to $5,000 replacing gas heating. $500 per ton, up to $2,500, replacing a heat pump.
Appliances
Electric range, wall oven or heat pump dryer replacing gas, plus refrigerator, dishwasher and fan rebates.
What a full switch from gas could earn
On GWP's current list, a home that moves its water heater, heating, range and dryer from gas to electric could earn $4,000 for the water heater, $3,000 for a 3-ton heat pump, $400 for a range, $400 for a heat pump dryer and $1,000 for a panel upgrade if one is needed. That is $8,800 at today's amounts. It is a ceiling, since each rebate has its own permit and limit, and amounts can change. Run the numbers for your own home in the California rebate calculator.
How GWP differs from nearby utilities
Pasadena pays $170 per ton for a heat pump and $500 for a water heater (Pasadena). Burbank pays $1,000 per ton up to $2,500 and $1,500 for a water heater (Burbank). LADWP pays up to $2,500 per ton and up to $2,500 for a water heater (Los Angeles). GWP's $4,000 water heater and $5,000 heat pump cap are the highest of the four. Each utility sets its own list, so the one on your electric bill decides what you can claim.
What GWP does not list
GWP's rebate page has no smart thermostat rebate, no EV charger rebate, no insulation, window or solar rebate, and no battery rebate. We checked the whole page. If you find a current GWP program we missed, tell us at hello@homepowerrebate.com. Do not assume a rebate quoted on another site applies to Glendale, because several of those figures belong to other utilities.
Permits and the gas capping step
Nearly every GWP electrification rebate needs a finalized City permit: a mechanical permit for the heat pump, a gas capping plumbing permit for water heaters and gas appliances, and an electrical permit for a panel or a new circuit. The City takes them through the Glendale Permits portal. The permit services page has the Permit Services Center number, (818) 548-3200. The City adopted a new fee schedule on June 23, 2026, so get a current quote for permit fees.
Money that ended or is full
The federal 25C and 25D tax credits ended for spending after December 31, 2025. Statewide heat pump help from TECH Clean California and the federal HEEHRA program is fully reserved and takes new requests on hold only. GWP's own rebates are the main money that is open for Glendale homes today. The Switch Is On California site lists other incentives if you want to check for programs outside the utility.

- Pick the upgrade that matches your next purchase and open its page above for the rules.
- Get quotes from two or three installers, and ask each who pulls the City permits.
- Keep the invoice, the AHRI certificate or model number, and the finalized permits.
- Apply on GWP's rebate page within 12 months of the purchase date.
Common questions
Does Glendale have its own electric utility?
Yes. Glendale Water and Power serves Glendale, and its rebates are separate from Southern California Edison's. Check the name on your electric bill.
Which GWP rebate pays the most?
The $4,000 heat pump water heater rebate, which must replace a gas water heater, and the heat pump rebate of $1,000 per ton up to $5,000 when it replaces gas heating.
Is there a GWP rebate for an EV charger or a smart thermostat?

Do I need a permit for every rebate?
Most of the electrification rebates need a finalized City permit. Appliances like refrigerators and fans do not need the gas capping step, but gas-to-electric swaps do.
