The free program that names Saskatoon
SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program installs LED light bulbs, low-flow faucet aerators, a drying rack, high-efficiency showerheads, a block heater timer, pipe wrap and a smart thermostat if you are eligible. SaskPower says it can save up to $230 a year. It is offered in partnership with the Government of Canada, the City of Saskatoon and the City of Swift Current Light and Power, and CLEAResult runs it. With 35% of Saskatoon households renting, it is worth knowing that renters and landlords can apply as well as homeowners. The steps are: apply online, schedule an appointment, have a home visit with an energy coach, and complete a short survey. The phone number is 306-910-7304.
Replacing gas equipment
SaskEnergy's Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate pays $325 for a furnace of 97.0% AFUE or better, $750 for a boiler of 95.0% AFUE or better, $800 for a combi boiler, and $1,000 for a tankless water heater (0.87 UEF) or a condensing water heater (0.80 UEF). The unit must run on natural gas, be on SaskEnergy's list, and replace part of your primary heating or water heating system. A gas contractor licensed through the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan must install it, and you have 120 days to apply. Revised terms took effect August 17, 2026, and SaskEnergy may change or cancel the program at any time.
What ended, and what we did not find
SaskPower's Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate ended in April 2026. We found no SaskPower or SaskEnergy rebate for heat pumps, insulation or windows. That is a negative result, not proof that none exists. Ottawa's National Heat Pump Rebate is expected in early 2027, and it may matter more in Saskatchewan than any provincial program. See our National Heat Pump Rebate guide.
