What is open for Calgary homes in 2026
We re-read each program page on October 3, 2026. Alberta has no provincial home rebates, so the help is local financing and a few small offers.
Calgary CEIP financing
A loan repaid on your property tax bill over up to 20 years. Intake is closed until winter 2026/2027. This is financing, not a rebate.
Calgary Home Upgrades
Free home upgrades for income-qualified homeowners and renters, delivered for the City by Kambo Energy Group. Applications are on hold right now.
Resilient roofing rebate
The $3,000 hail-resistant roofing rebate ended in 2022 and has not been reinstated.
Utility rebates
We found no primary source for a current ENMAX, ATCO, EPCOR or FortisAlberta heat pump or solar rebate, so we show none. Ask your utility before you buy.
Federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability
The federal program for oil-heated homes stopped taking Alberta applications after July 31, 2026.
Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan
The grant's document deadline was December 31, 2025 and the loan cannot approve new applications.

Alberta is not among the provinces taking part, as of August 31, 2026.

A house-and-owner city
The 2021 Census counts 502,305 households in Calgary. About 55% live in detached houses, 10% in row homes and 6% in semi-detached homes, and 69% own. Only 8% live in buildings of five or more storeys. That mix suits the programs Alberta does have, which are written around a homeowner who can repay a loan on the property tax bill.
How CEIP works, and why it is paused
Calgary's Clean Energy Improvement Program lends up to $50,000, up to 100% of project cost, repaid on your property tax bill over up to 20 years. The City estimates a rate of 6.00% to 6.10%. If you sell, the new owner can take over the repayment or you can pay it off. Intake is closed until winter 2026/2027, so plan quotes now and apply when it reopens. Nothing here is a rebate, and the rate is what you will pay, so compare it with your bank's.
Free help for lower incomes
Calgary Home Upgrades gives income-qualified homeowners and renters free upgrades, delivered for the City by Kambo Energy Group. The program is on hold, so check its page for the current intake before you apply. Renters are included, which matters in a city where about a third of households rent.
What ended
There is also no air conditioner rebate in Alberta for a plain AC swap. The federal oil-to-heat-pump program stopped taking Alberta applications after July 31, 2026, and the Greener Homes grant and loan are closed. Alberta is not among the provinces in the Greener Homes Affordability Program. If a contractor quotes a heat pump price including a federal rebate, ask for the program name and the date.
