- October 2026: BC Hydro heat pump bonus (coming). The extra bonus of up to $1,000 on BC Hydro heat pump rebates only covers installs completed by October 31, 2026. Source
- October 2026: National Heat Pump Rebate (new). Ottawa announced a $2 billion rebate for electric heat pumps: up to $10,000 for households below the median income and $2,000 for other eligible homeowners. Launch is expected in early 2027, and installs from November 1, 2026 can apply once it opens. Income line, eligible homes and fuels are not published yet; Ottawa says details come on November 1, 2026. Source
- July 2026: CleanBC Energy Savings Program (income-qualified) (cut). New rules for invoices from July 6, 2026: heat pump rebates for switching from gas, oil or propane are now $13,000, $7,000 or $3,500 by income level, plus a $3,000 northern top-up for levels 1 and 2. Source
- July 2026: BC Hydro net metering (changed). Net metering closed to new customers. New solar owners get the self-generation rate, which pays 10 cents per kWh for power you export. Source
- December 2025: Canada Greener Homes Grant (ended). The last day to submit documents was December 31, 2025. The Greener Homes Loan stopped taking applications October 1, 2025. Source

BC Hydro whole-home heat pump
Whole-home (80%+ coverage); up to $1,500 for partial (50–79%). Income-qualified households can reach up to $13,000 through CleanBC. Same province-wide in all 18 cities.
FortisBC gas customer heat pump
Income-qualified customers can also get up to $3,000 on a gas ENERGY STAR water heater and up to $2,000 on insulation.
BC Hydro self-generation solar rebate
$1,000/kW, capped at 50% of system cost. Province-wide, same in every BC city.
BC Hydro home battery rebate
Requires Peak Saver enrollment. Only BC Hydro-approved batteries qualify — Tesla Powerwall is not on the approved list and gets $0.
Peak Saver rewards (10-year)
Enrollment bonus plus seasonal incentives for letting BC Hydro trim usage at peak times — you keep control and can opt out.
Insulation rebate (attic, walls, crawlspace)
Plus up to $2,000 for ENERGY STAR windows and exterior doors as a separate measure. The "building envelope" tier.
Heat-pump water heater rebate
Varies by unit size and whether you're on BC Hydro or FortisBC. Same range across BC cities.

Free for electric-baseboard homes starting fall 2026 (a ~$350 value), or $10–$200 in-store rebates elsewhere. Peak Saver enrollment adds $100 + $50/season.

What is the BC Hydro Power Smart 2.0 rebate?
Power Smart 2.0 is BC Hydro's $1.1 billion program offering up to $10,000 for solar + battery systems, plus $4,000 for heat pumps, with additional incentives for insulation, windows, and energy-efficient upgrades. It's available to BC Hydro residential customers.
How much does a solar + battery system cost in BC?
A typical residential solar + battery system costs $25,000 to $40,000 depending on size and location. With the BC Hydro rebate (up to $10,000), Peak Saver rewards (~$3,000 over 10 years), and lower power bills ($5,000 to $9,000 over a decade), your net cost is dramatically reduced. Payback periods range from 6 to 12 years depending on the city and home size.
Which BC cities are covered by HomePowerRebate?
We currently serve 18 BC cities: Abbotsford, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Kelowna, Langley, Maple Ridge, Nanaimo, Penticton, Prince George, Richmond, Squamish, Surrey, Vancouver, Vernon, and Victoria. Expanding to more BC cities through 2026.
Is FortisBC eligible for the Power Smart 2.0 rebate?
No. The Power Smart 2.0 rebate is only for BC Hydro customers. FortisBC has its own rebate programs. Check with your utility directly.
Can I use a Tesla Powerwall with the BC Hydro rebate?
No. Tesla products are not on BC Hydro's approved battery list. Installing a Powerwall means zero rebate — a $5,000+ mistake. We recommend approved alternatives like Eguana Evolve, Enphase IQ, LG Home, SolarEdge Home, Panasonic EverVolt, and Generac PWRcell.
What about heat pump rebates?
BC Hydro offers up to $4,000 for whole-home heat pumps (80%+ of conditioned space) and up to $1,500 for partial heat pumps (50–79% coverage). Is this really free for homeowners?
Yes. You don't pay HomePowerRebate anything. Installers don't pay us either, and no one can pay to rank higher.

How long does installation take?
Typically 4 to 8 weeks from signing the contract, including BC Hydro pre-approval, equipment delivery, installation (1–3 days), and final inspection. Rebate cheques arrive 30–45 business days after the system is connected.
Is my contractor's rebate quote a scam?
