Our weather sample for Mississauga (2015-2024) shows an average January low of -8 °C. Cold-climate heat pumps are tested at low temperatures, so check the rating at your coldest days, not just the average.

We re-read the program's appliance page on October 4, 2026. The rebates are province-wide, so the amounts are the same in every city, and the rules about what you replace and which model you buy are what decide a claim.

Homes the appliance page does and does not name

The thermostat rebate lists house types, and the windows and insulation rebates need an assessment. The appliance page is different: it asks only for a residential customer on the Ontario grid. For the 27% of Mississauga households in tall buildings, that makes appliances the rebate to ask about first, with the caveat that the page does not mention condos.

Alectra Utilities bills

Alectra Utilities distributes power in Mississauga. The rebate does not come from it, but your account with it is what shows you are on the Ontario grid. A tenant whose power is in the rent should ask the landlord.

Adding up the six

The six rebates are $200 for a heat pump dryer, $150 for an induction cooktop or range, $75 for a washer, $50 each for a fridge and a freezer and $25 for a dishwasher. A household that replaced all six would receive $550, though few Mississauga homes will need to swap everything at once. The rebate is flat, so it takes the same amount off an entry model and a premium one.

Most Efficient, not just ENERGY STAR

The rebate is for ENERGY STAR Most Efficient models, which the page describes as going beyond standard ENERGY STAR requirements. A fridge with the ordinary ENERGY STAR mark may not qualify. Each appliance has its own product list linked from the program page, so find the model number there before you pay, whether you buy in Mississauga or online.

When replacing makes sense

About 38% of Mississauga's 244,575 households live in homes built before 1981. Age of the house tells you little about the age of the fridge, and a working appliance rarely pays back a swap through a $25 to $200 rebate alone. The rebate suits a replacement you already need to make.

Keep your paperwork

Before you upload anything, put the receipt, the model number from the box or the appliance label and the delivery date in one place. The program checks the model against its list, so a clear model number saves a follow-up. If the claim is refused, the usual reasons are a model off the list, an appliance that was not a replacement or a receipt more than 60 days old. A Mississauga household that keeps these together can fix most problems quickly.

How to claim in Mississauga

  1. Check that the appliance you are replacing is electric and that you are on the Ontario grid.
  2. Find a new model on the program's ENERGY STAR Most Efficient list for that appliance.
  3. Buy it new from any retailer and keep the receipt.
  4. Upload the receipt on the program page within 60 days of purchase.
  5. If your household income is under the limits, call 1-844-770-3148 about free fridges and freezers first.
