What Ontario pays for new appliances in London
We re-read the program's appliance page on October 4, 2026. The rebates are province-wide, so the amounts are the same in every city, and the rules about what you replace and which model you buy are what decide a claim.
Heat pump clothes dryer
The largest of the six appliance rebates, for a new ENERGY STAR Most Efficient heat pump dryer replacing an electric dryer.
Induction cooktop or range
For a new induction cooktop or range on the program's product list, replacing an existing electric one.
Washing machine
For a new ENERGY STAR Most Efficient washer on the program list.
Fridge
For a new ENERGY STAR Most Efficient refrigerator replacing an existing electric one.
Freezer
For a new ENERGY STAR Most Efficient freezer on the list.
Dishwasher
For a new ENERGY STAR Most Efficient dishwasher on the list.
Who can claim
A residential customer on the Ontario grid with an existing electric appliance in need of replacing. Cornwall Electric customers are excluded.
Free route
Income-qualified households can get energy-efficient fridges and freezers at no charge, along with other upgrades.

The appliance page states no end date, so confirm it is still open before you buy.
Beyond the house
London has 21% of its households in buildings of five or more storeys, and 10% in smaller apartment buildings. For those households appliance rebates are worth asking about because the page does not name a home type, though it does not mention condos or apartments either.
London Hydro
London Hydro supplies electricity. London postal codes begin with N, which the Energy Affordability Program lists for free fridges and freezers to households under the income limits. January lows average -7.5°C.
What kind of home
Unlike the thermostat rebate, the appliance page lists no home type. It asks for a residential customer on the Ontario grid. It does not address condos or apartments directly, so a London condo owner or tenant should confirm with the program. 42% of London households rent, and a tenant should ask the landlord before swapping a fridge or range that came with the unit.
Adding up the six
The six rebates are $200 for a heat pump dryer, $150 for an induction cooktop or range, $75 for a washer, $50 each for a fridge and a freezer and $25 for a dishwasher. A household that replaced all six would receive $550, though few London homes will need to swap everything at once. The rebate is flat, so it takes the same amount off an entry model and a premium one.
Buy new, then upload the receipt
Buy a new appliance from any retailer, then upload the receipt on the program page within 60 days of purchase. Used and refurbished units do not qualify. Keep the receipt, the model number and the delivery date together. London households who buy during a sale should still confirm the model is on the list at the time they check out.
Fridges and freezers at no cost
The Energy Affordability Program lists energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers among the items that comprehensive support can provide, along with LED bulbs, dehumidifiers and window air conditioners. It does not list washers or dryers, and its saving kits include no major appliances. Income limits run from $48,220 for one person to $96,439 for four, and London postal codes are among those it covers. Call 1-844-770-3148 to ask.
How to claim in London
- Check that the appliance you are replacing is electric and that you are on the Ontario grid.
- Find a new model on the program's ENERGY STAR Most Efficient list for that appliance.
- Buy it new from any retailer and keep the receipt.
- Upload the receipt on the program page within 60 days of purchase.
- If your household income is under the limits, call 1-844-770-3148 about free fridges and freezers first.
