Quick Wins
BC Hydro Appliance Rebates 2026: Fridges, Washers & Dryers
BC Hydro periodically runs an instant in-store discount on Energy Star fridges, clothes washers, and clothes dryers. No rebate form, no waiting for a cheque — the discount applies at checkout. The most recent confirmed window (Fall 2025) is detailed below; always check bchydro.com/deals to see if a window is currently active.
Correction (August 2026): An earlier version of this page listed a $150–$500 range and included dishwashers, induction cooktops, smart thermostats, and heat pump water heaters as part of this same program. That was wrong — this specific instant-discount program tops out at $150 per appliance (varying by category, see below) and covers only fridges, washers, and dryers. The other categories are real BC Hydro incentives, but they're separate programs with their own rules (linked at the bottom of this page).
What qualifies
Refrigerator
$75
Energy Star certified models at participating retailers.
Clothes Washer
$50
Energy Star certified models at participating retailers.
Clothes Dryer
Up to $150
Energy Star certified models at participating retailers.
Combination Washer/Dryer

Not currently included: dishwashers and cooktops are not part of this instant-discount program, despite being commonly assumed to qualify. Always check bchydro.com/deals for the current eligible list before you shop, since it changes.
The details that actually matter
- It's instant, not a rebate form. The discount is applied at checkout by the participating retailer — there's no application, no receipt to submit, no waiting period.
- Participating retailers only. The discount is tied to specific stores carrying the program's eligible SKUs, not every retailer selling Energy Star appliances.
- Limit 2 units per SKU per transaction. This is a household-appliance program, not a bulk-purchase discount.
- Clearance and floor models are excluded.
- These windows are time-limited and seasonal, not year-round. The most recently confirmed window ran October 3, 2025 through January 2, 2026. BC Hydro has run this type of program repeatedly over the years, so a new window may be open now even though that specific one has ended — check bchydro.com/deals for the current dates before you shop.
Other BC Hydro incentives people confuse with this one
These are real, but they're separate programs — don't expect them to show up as an instant discount on a fridge or dishwasher purchase:
- Smart thermostats: covered under BC Hydro's Peak Saver enrollment incentives, not this appliance program. See our smart thermostat comparison for current details.
- Heat pump water heaters: a CleanBC/FortisBC incentive tied to replacing an existing tank water heater, requiring installation — not an in-store discount. See your city's rebate page for current water heater numbers.
Common questions
Do I need to apply for this rebate?
No. It's an instant discount applied by the retailer at checkout, not a mail-in or online rebate application.
Does this cover dishwashers or cooktops?
Not currently. This specific program is limited to refrigerators, clothes washers, and clothes dryers. Check bchydro.com/deals for the current eligible list, since programs like this do change.
Can I buy online instead of in-store?
The discount is tied to participating retailers — confirm with the specific retailer whether the instant discount applies to their online checkout as well as in-store.
What if the current window has already ended?
BC Hydro has run this type of instant-discount program on a recurring basis. If the dates above have passed, check bchydro.com/deals for the next active window rather than assuming the program is gone for good.
The bottom line
This isn't a big-ticket rebate like a heat pump or solar system, but $50–$150 off a fridge, washer, or dryer you're already buying is real money for zero extra effort — no forms, no waiting. Just confirm the program is currently active and the retailer/appliance are on the eligible list before you check out.
