What SMUD pays Folsom homeowners

Instant solar and battery permits
The City of Folsom runs an Instant Solar Permitting process through Symbium, aligned with California's SB 379, with approvals issued in as little as 24 business hours for eligible residential solar and battery projects. Applicants submit in Symbium, and they must upload the SMUD Interconnection Approval Letter. They then pay permit fees through the City's eTRAKiT portal. The City says the eTRAKiT application fee and plan check fees are waived. For a solar or battery buyer, that is a real saving and a faster start, and it ties directly into SMUD's interconnection step.
Permits for everything else
Other residential permits go through the City's Building Services, and the City's ePermit Center describes the online eTRAKiT system. A heat pump, a water heater swap and a panel upgrade each need their own permit, and the City's Permit Services can be reached at 916-461-6000. Ask your contractor who pulls each permit, and keep the final inspection records, which SMUD and the state programs often ask to see.
Installers worth a call
Folsom's best-reviewed HVAC and heat pump companies on Google include ICM Mechanical, Water Heaters Only, and Atticman Heating and Air Conditioning, which also does insulation, so it fits SMUD's seal and insulate package. Water Heaters Only is a natural first call for a heat pump water heater. SMUD pays rebates only through its Contractor Network, so check membership before you accept a bid.
Climate in Folsom
