The breakdown

Why this one needs an assessment

Windows and doors are usually replaced alongside insulation or air sealing as part of a bigger envelope upgrade, so the program bundles them into the assessment-required path. You need at least 2 qualifying upgrades from that group (insulation, windows/doors, heat pump water heater, air sealing) to participate — and completing 3+ earns an extra $500 bonus on top.

How to claim it

  1. Book an initial home energy assessment with a registered energy advisor ($600, refunded later)
  2. Get your custom report — it will confirm which openings qualify
  3. Complete the window/door replacement plus at least one other qualifying upgrade
  4. Book a follow-up assessment to confirm the work
  5. Rebate arrives by mail within 60 days

Common questions

Are window and door rebates available in Toronto?

Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program covers ENERGY STAR-rated window and door replacement as part of a broader retrofit, usually alongside insulation.

Do all new windows qualify for the rebate in Toronto?

No. They need to meet ENERGY STAR's rating for your climate zone. A standard double-pane replacement usually won't qualify on its own.
