Renting or living in a condo?
If you rent
The structural rebates above (heat pump, insulation, solar) go to whoever owns the property, not the tenant. The free Mass Save home energy assessment is still worth booking, though — it typically includes free quick fixes like LED bulbs and a smart thermostat. If you want the bigger upgrades, the ask has to go to your landlord.
If you own a condo unit
In-unit upgrades you control yourself — a heat pump water heater, in-suite windows, an in-unit heat pump — may qualify for the rebates above, usually with your building's approval for anything touching shared systems or exterior walls. Confirm that approval before applying.
If it's a whole-building retrofit
Heat pumps, insulation, and solar for an entire building go through Mass Save's multifamily track rather than the single-family numbers above — the process and amounts differ, and your condo board or property manager applies rather than individual owners. Ask Mass Save to connect your board with that program directly.
