- Get quotes from Mass Save-participating contractors in Worcester
- Work is installed
- Contractor or you file the rebate paperwork with Mass Save
- Rebate is applied at point of sale or reimbursed within weeks
Worcester-specific programs
Worcester is a designated Equity Community under Mass Save, which means all renters, regardless of income, qualify for free weatherization and electrification services — not just income-qualified renters. Renting or living in a condo? Here's what actually applies to you
Most of the numbers above assume you own a single-family or multi-family home and control the whole building. That's not every Worcester homeowner. Here's what changes:
If you rent
Worcester's Equity Community status (above) means all renters here, regardless of income, qualify for free weatherization and electrification services — not the usual income-qualified-only rule elsewhere in the state. Start with the free Mass Save home energy assessment; it also often comes with a free smart thermostat.
If you own a condo unit
In-unit upgrades you control yourself — a heat pump water heater, in-suite windows, an in-unit heat pump — can qualify for the Mass Save rebates above, usually with your condo association's approval for anything touching shared walls or exterior systems. Get that approval in writing before your contractor applies.
If it's a whole-building retrofit
Heat pumps, insulation, and solar for the whole building go through the condo association as a group decision, and Mass Save's multi-family program handles the paperwork rather than the single-unit process on this page. The HEAT Loan and Mass Save's free assessment are both still available — your association or property manager coordinates the application, not individual owners.
