Most of the rebate figures on this page assume you own the home outright and control the whole building. That's not everyone in Mississauga. Here's what changes if you rent or live in a condo:
The HRSP rebates above go to whoever pays for and owns the upgrade — typically your landlord, not you. If you want a heat pump, insulation, or solar added to the property, the ask has to go to your landlord; point them to this page and the official homerenovationsavings.ca program page so they can apply directly.
In-unit upgrades you control yourself — a heat pump water heater, a smart thermostat, in-suite windows — may still qualify for the HRSP rebates above, but anything touching shared systems or the building's exterior typically needs your condo board's written approval first. Get that approval before applying, since the rebate paperwork can ask for proof the work was authorized.
Heat pumps, insulation, or solar for an entire building are a group decision that goes through the condo board rather than an individual owner. There's no Mississauga- or Peel-specific multi-unit retrofit program described on this page — the Peel Residential Energy Program referenced above is a small energy-coaching pilot, not a rebate stream a condo board could apply through. The safest first step for a board is the official HRSP program finder above, or contacting the program directly to ask what a multi-unit building qualifies for before assuming the single-family numbers on this page apply.
