- Delivery (2026): distribution + transmission + energy efficiency charges add up to roughly 16.4¢/kWh, confirmed directly from Eversource's own published rate schedule, plus a $10/month customer charge. (Check current Eversource delivery rates →)
- Basic Service (supply): resets twice a year (February and August). As of August 2026 it's tracking at roughly 17.3¢/kWh, consistent with Eversource's officially-confirmed February 2026 rate and its published reset schedule — always check your own bill's "Basic Service" line for the exact current number, since it changes.
- All-in estimate: roughly 33–34¢/kWh combining both real components above.
A modern cold-climate heat pump typically moves 2.5–3.5 units of heat per unit of electricity it uses (its "coefficient of performance"), which is why it beats electric resistance heating on cost even at this rate. - Book a free Mass Save home energy assessment (Eversource, National Grid, Unitil, Cape Light Compact, Berkshire Gas, or Liberty Utilities customers — National Grid customers can also call 1-866-527-7283 directly)
- The assessor visits (1.5–2.5 hours), checks your attic, walls, and existing heating system, and gives you a written report with your qualifying upgrades and estimated rebate
- Choose a Mass Save-participating contractor from the list in your report and get the heat pump installed — only R-32 or R-454B refrigerant systems qualify as of 2026
- Your contractor submits the rebate application after the work is done — the assessment itself doesn't submit anything
