The Rebates
1. Heat pump rebate: $250–$500
This is a modest rebate. San Diego's mild climate means less heating demand than colder parts of the state, which is part of why the number is smaller — more on that in our deeper explainer.
2. Battery rebate (SGIP): $1,000+
SGIP, the Self-Generation Incentive Program, pays toward home battery storage. In SDG&E territory this is one of the stronger programs available — often worth more attention than the heat pump rebate alone.
3. EV charger rebate: $500
A flat rebate for installing a home EV charger.
4. Smart thermostat rebate: $50

Why Heating Isn't the Big Story Here
San Diego's climate is mild. In technical terms, the area has around 1,100–1,200 heating degree days a year — a measure of how much heating a home typically needs.
